Feature lists

Choose which tools the customers of each hosting plan get, give lists to packages, and set the most each reseller may give.

A feature list is a named set of customer tools — for example "Email only" or "Developer" — that you give to a package. Customers on that package see and use only those tools: a feature that is off disappears from their menu and overview, and the panel refuses it. Without a list, a package has every feature.

Make a feature list

  1. Click New list.
  2. Type a Name, up to 40 characters, for example "Email only".
  3. Optionally choose where to Start from: Everything on, Everything, Email only, Websites without email, Developer or Simple.
  4. Tick the features you want on. They are grouped: Email, Files, Databases, Domains, Software, Security, Advanced, Metrics, Account and Other. Use All and None to tick or untick everything.
  5. Click Save.

The editor counts the Features on. A feature that needs another one that is off is greyed out: it has no effect until you switch the other one on.

Note: a feature added to the panel later is on in every list until you switch it off.

You can have up to 100 feature lists.

Change or delete a list

The Lists table shows each list, how many features are on, which are Switched off, and the packages and resellers it is Used by.

  • Click Edit to change a list. Changes apply at once to every account whose plan uses it.
  • Click Delete and confirm to remove a list. A list that is in use cannot be deleted: give its packages and resellers another list first.

Give a list to a package

In the Packages table, choose a list in the package's Feature list column. It applies straight away to every account on the package. Everything (default) gives every feature.

You can also choose the feature list when you create or edit a package under Packages.

Set a reseller's allowance

Reseller allowances sets the most each reseller may give their customers.

  1. In the reseller's row, choose a list under Feature list.

The reseller's customers never get more than this allowance, whatever the reseller's own lists say. Their own lists can only switch off more.

How resellers use feature lists

Resellers with the Make their own feature lists privilege see the same screen for their own customers. Features outside their allowance are locked, and a notice at the top tells them what their plan leaves out. See Reseller privileges.
