Reseller Panel
What resellers are, where they sign in, what they can manage, and how the administrator's privileges limit them.
A reseller sells hosting to their own customers on an HF Panel server. The Reseller Panel is where a reseller creates and looks after those customers' hosting accounts, sees how their business is doing, and — when allowed — shows their own brand instead of the hosting provider's.
Resellers are created by the server's administrator (see Resellers). Each reseller sees only their own customers: their accounts, domains, databases, mail and support tickets.
Signing in
The Reseller Panel has its own address and sign-in:
https://reseller.yourdomain.com:8443
The address uses the panel's port (8443 unless the administrator changed it). When the server has no separate reseller address set up, resellers sign in on the Server Admin address instead, and see the Reseller Panel's menu.
The menu
| Group | Screens |
|---|---|
| Reseller | Overview — counts for your accounts, sites that are down, accounts and monthly revenue over 30 days, and traffic |
| Accounts | Accounts, Packages, Feature lists, Users online |
| Billing | Business |
| Hosting | Domains, Databases, DNS templates |
| Mail delivery log | |
| Support | Live chat (your own customers' chats), Announcements |
| Account | My brand, Security, Notifications |
To work inside one customer's Control Panel, use Log in as.
What the administrator decides
The administrator sets each reseller's limits on Reseller privileges in Server Admin (see Reseller privileges):
Privileges
Every privilege is on unless the administrator switches it off. A call the privilege doesn't allow is refused with "Your hosting provider has not given your reseller account this permission."
| Privilege | What it allows |
|---|---|
| Create accounts | new hosting accounts, within the account limit and pools |
| Suspend and unsuspend accounts | suspending and unsuspending, one by one or in bulk |
| Delete accounts | deleting accounts (approvals still apply where they are switched on) |
| Change plans | moving an account to another package |
| Edit the DNS of their accounts | changing DNS zones through Log in as |
| Use Log in as | opening a customer's Control Panel without their password |
| See bandwidth | traffic charts and visitor statistics of their accounts |
| Make their own feature lists | choosing which features their customers' plans have, within their own allowance |
| Set limits | giving single customers a lower disk quota than their plan |
| Own brand and nameservers | their logo, colours, name, panel address and nameservers, shown to their customers |
You can see which privileges you have under What you may do on My brand.
Account limit and pools
- Accounts — the most accounts you can create (0 = no limit).
- Disk pool — the disk you can hand out. Without overselling, the disk sizes of your customers' plans must fit in the pool, and a plan without a disk limit can't be handed out. With overselling, only what your customers really use counts.
- Bandwidth pool — the traffic your customers may use each month. A new account needs bandwidth left this month.
Feature allowance
The administrator can give you a feature list as your allowance: the most your customers may ever get. Your own feature lists can only switch off more. See Feature lists.
